Residents who want to be the karma in their community still have the opportunity to do so.
The third annual Karma Concerts Cabaret is 75 per cent sold out and the remaining tickets are going quickly. This year’s headliner is The Washboard Union with the 2016 Alberta Country Music Award’s Female Artist of the Year winner Trinity Bradshaw opening the show. There will be games, prizes, food and Danny Hooper is emceeing once again.
The Karma board are all volunteers and do not get any compensation, so all the proceeds from the concert stay in Leduc County, including the outlying rural communities, to help local kids. The three major benefactors are the Leduc and District Food Bank’s Snack Attack program, the Boys and Girls Club of Leduc and Musicounts’ Band Aid program, which equips school music programs with what they need.
“The concert is about the kids but it’s a way for the adults to have fun too,” said Karma Concerts president Tammy Bradley. “It can be for couples, a girls’ night out or for businesses.”
This year’s happy hour is a must. Bradley says they have added some games with major prizes for the hour between 5 and 6 p.m.
For $20 a square, guests can play Chicken S**t Bingo. There will be two rounds with 42 people per game. The person with the winning square gets to keep half the winnings – or they can donate it back – and the other half goes to a local 4H club.
They have also developed a Bean Bags and Carats game. Four bean bags are $20 and each accurately thrown bag is worth one ticket for a draw on a diamond ring. Similarly, for $20 a spin, the Dazzling Diamond Spin has a diamond…
