Drone seized by RCMP who say it flew into air ambulance flight path | Calgary Herald
Mounties in Red Deer have seized a drone after reports that the device was near the flight path of a STARS air ambulance.
The incident happened on Wednesday morning at about 9:30 a.m. as the helicopter made an approach to the Red Deer hospital, RCMP say.
Officers found the owner of the foldable Mavic Pro drone and seized it. Mounties are investigating whether the drone was used in violation of the federal Aeronautics Act.
Transport Canada recently issued new regulations restricting the use of recreational and commercial drones in populated areas.
A spokesperson for STARS air ambulance said its flight was not affected by the drone Wednesday.
