Const. Brock Boynton will be demoted from first-class constable to second-class constable for one year and remain on administrative duties until his driver’s licence is reinstated, a tribunal determined Thursday.
Boynton pleaded guilty to impaired driving in January after he was found asleep at the wheel by paramedics in December. Police had been called about a suspected drunk driver and arrested Boynton who was off-duty and in a personal vehicle at the time.
The Police Services Act hearing held at the Holiday Inn Thursday saw him plead guilty ton one charge of discreditable conduct under the PSA.
Boynton may be returned to the first-class rank after he is evaluated through an established process, police say.
