Get ready for some Boot Scootin’ Boogie, Calgary — Brooks & Dunn are booked for Stampede.
The wildly successful country duo will be playing the Saddledome on July 13, the final piece to complete the 2017 Virgin Mobile Stampede Concert Series.
“Brooks & Dunn are a knock-out country music duo, with every concert an unforgettable, first-class experience,” Adam Oppenheim, of Stampede Concerts Inc. said in a press release distributed Thursday. “This will be the only show they’re playing in Canada this year. We’re proud to deliver a once-in-a-lifetime, unique and memorable performance at the 2017 Calgary Stampede that fans won’t want to miss.”
For those who’ve been living under a rock the last 26 years, Brooks & Dunn are the dynamic duo of country — 30 million albums, 23 chart-toppers and 80 awards, including 20 Country Music Award trophies and two Grammys. They are the most awarded act in the history of American country music.
The pair announced their retirement in 2009 before embarking on a farewell tour. Clearly, it was hard to say goodbye.
The Stampede appearance marks their first Canadian show since that tour, and their only Canadian show this year.
Pre-sale for Virgin Mobile members will run April 4 at 10 a.m. to April 6 at 10 p.m. Stampede Insiders will get their chance April 5 and 6 before tickets go on sale to the general public April 7 at 10 a.m. Tickets start at $59.99, plus taxes and fees through Ticketmaster.
